Katie walked into my life like she walked into my office: quickly, on a mission and with a big ole smile. I can honestly say it has been wonderful ever since and we would not have trusted many others with the task of taking photos of our wedding day. From the moment I saw her photography style I knew it was exactly what I wanted to remember my wedding day like. Classic, elegant, romantic and breath taking are just a few words that come to mind. We could not be more pleased with the previews we have seen so far and cannot wait to get our hands on the rest! My tip is that you can't go back and re-do your special day so make sure you remember that when hiring for photography. There is a type of trust that goes into this and I am so happy we chose to Katie to document these precious memories for us so that we are able to look back on and remember them so beautifully.

Katie has a way of making you feel at ease! She took our wedding photos and I felt comfortable/excited/and like no one else was in the room. I don't feel 'like a natural' behind the camera but in the moment she made me feel safe. She took on the unexpected rain without stress and she got right into the rain to capture beautiful photos for us! It's so exciting to see peoples gifts used in this way and Katie has a gifting — with people, and with the camera. I am overjoyed with our photos and so thankful for Katie.

The Need More Acres Farm Food Planner is a labor of love that started three years ago, but just as we began we quickly found ourselves distracted by good works partnering with those in our community who provide access to good food.  We are thankful for that delay because it allowed us to meet and fall in love with the work Katie Starks does with food photography and photo styling.  We had seen her work online and just knew she would offer us the guidance and skill we needed.

We were looking for someone who could help us pull the project together and Katie did just that. We were able to loosely offer suggestions based on what's in season and Katie helped us pull the imagery of our story into the photography. She respected our time and work space while making certain to get the right shots. Her passion for both the beauty of farm life and the sacredness of building a better food system was apparent and we will always be thankful.

Katie is literally a magician. She has taken two sets of photos for us, a Christmas session last year and a newborn session in July. Both times she has been nothing short of incredible, providing beautiful and artistic shots that capture our family perfectly, even when her subjects were not entirely cooperative. When we were thinking about our engagement pictures we knew we wanted them to capture us in a fun and unique way. Baking together is one of our favorite weekend activities, so we thought let’s go for it! As soon as we knew we wanted to capture a baking session, KT was our first thought! I had followed her blog (all the love for Cora and Louise) and loved the way she captured the kitchen. We asked if she would be interested and she jumped right in! She helped us decide on a location, offered outfit advice, and was genuinely so excited for us and the shoot. The day of we threw on some music and KT told us to do our thing. She made us feel super comfortable and at ease all while capturing us so naturally! As soon as we went to put the scones in the oven, an accident caused the power to go off in our home. KT rolled with it and stayed with me, while Paul went to borrow an oven. Her flexibility and grace in this situation was such a blessing (especially during a time of engagement when you have so many items to check off your list)! We are so thankful for the way KT captured our love, and we can’t wait to use her in the future!

The time our family spent with Katie Starks with Katie Starks Photography for family pictures was wonderful! She is very professional, extremely talented behind the lens, and a joy to work with. She took time to get to know our family, helped tremendously with outfit selections, and made picture-taking fun for our children. Her friendly disposition and kindness allowed us to completely relax in her company and be our true selves in front of the camera. She captured our family's story beautifully and I love how our children’s’ little personalities shine in each photograph.

In all visual industries, it's a rare thing to come across someone who has the perfect balance of flexibility, direction, and guidance that Katie does. LAUREN ARMSTRONG —

Katie did a fantastic job with our newborn photos! She was extremely patient and spent plenty of time with us to make sure she got good shots. Despite our toddler not wanting to behave, she still managed to get a bunch of good pictures with him. 

She was also very prompt in getting our edited pictures back to us. She actually got them finished faster than when she told us she would at the end of our session, which was a nice surprise! 

The quality of her editing is top notch! Her style is very natural and she does a great job of finding the right lighting in natural settings. She took all of our pictures at our home and we are very happy with her finished product!
